Ingredients:
- 1 lb ground beef
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 4 slices Swiss cheese
- 8 slices rye bread
- 2 cups sliced mushrooms
- 1 large onion, sliced
- 2 tbsp butter
- 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
Instructions:
Make 4 patties out of the ground beef that are all the same size
Add pepper and salt
Place the pan on medium heat
For about 4 to 5 minutes on each side, or until done to your liking, cook patties
In the last minute of cooking, put a slice of Swiss cheese on top of each patty
Melt the butter in a different pan over medium-low heat
Put in the mushrooms and onion slices
It will take about 8 to 10 minutes of cooking until the onions are caramelized and the mushrooms are soft
Pour Worcestershire sauce over the mushroom and onion mix and stir to mix
Put a rye bread slice on a plate to start putting the melts together
Place a cooked patty on top and add a large spoonful of the mushroom and onion mixture
Add one more rye bread slice on top
Put the assembled sandwiches in the pan that was used to cook the patties
It should take about two to three minutes on each side to toast the bread and melt the cheese
Enjoy while hot!
