Sushi rice is the foundation of any good sushi roll. It's seasoned with a mixture of rice vinegar, sugar, and salt, giving it the perfect balance of sweet and tangy flavors.
Ingredients:
- 2 cups sushi rice
- 2 1/2 cups water
- 1/4 cup rice vinegar
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
Instructions:
Run cold water over the sushi rice until the water is clear
In a pot or rice cooker, mix the rice and water together
Follow the directions on the rice cooker or boil it for a few minutes, then lower the heat, cover it, and let it cook for 18 minutes
In a small saucepan, heat the rice vinegar, sugar, and salt over low heat until the sugar melts
Do this while the rice is cooking
After the rice is done, put it in a large bowl and slowly mix in the vinegar mixture until it is well mixed
Before you use the rice to make sushi, let it cool to room temperature
