Ingredients:

  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/4 cup brewed coffee optional
  • Powdered sugar for dusting optional
  • Whipped cream optional
  • Fresh berries optional

Instructions:

Warm up your oven to 375F 190C and lightly oil a 9-inch circular cake pan

Melt the unsalted butter and semisweet chocolate chips in 30-second increments in a microwave-safe bowl, stirring after each to ensure smoothness

Let it cool down a little

Mix the eggs, vanilla extract, salt, and granulated sugar in a separate bowl until thoroughly blended

Stirring constantly, slowly incorporate the melted chocolate mixture into the sugar and egg mixture

To intensify the chocolate flavor, stir in some brewed coffee, if desired

Over the batter, sift in the unsweetened cocoa powder and fold in until completely incorporated

After filling the cake pan, level the top with the batter

For about 25 to 30 minutes, or until the cake is set around the edges but still slightly jiggly in the center, bake it in a preheated oven

After taking the cake out of the oven, allow it to cool in the pan for ten or so minutes before moving it to a wire rack to finish cooling
